Each person experiences acupuncture differently. I have been told that it feels like an insect bite as the needle pierces the skin. As the needles are retained, some report sensations such a ‘heaviness’, ‘itchiness’ or ‘feeling that something is there but does not hurt’. Some can feel referral of sensations to other parts of the limb such as toe feeling numb or pins and needles or waves going through their body.

Acupuncture may help with many conditions including pain, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, female & male fertility, pregnancy, menstrual issues, cough, cold and flu, fatigue, allergies, general women’s and men’s health, skin conditions and many more. Your acupuncturist will assess and discuss with you if acupuncture is appropriate with your condition.

Each condition is different. Each individual also responds differently. Your treatment plan will be discussed with you on your consultation.

Acupuncture has been known to be an effective treatment with very little adverse effects. In the small cases that these occur, adverse reactions may include discomfort, dizziness, nausea, tiredness, irritation at the site of insertion, redness, fainting and bruising. Most of these resolves very quickly and are not long-lasting. Please let your acupuncturist know if you experience any of these ASAP.
